2020 Annual Meeting Event Update

March 7, 2020: SRI Cancels the 67th Annual Scientific Meeting

Dear Colleagues and SRI 2020 Attendees

It is with a heavy heart and that I share this news about the 2020 SRI Meeting. SRI meetings are known for the rich interactions between members, excellent plenary speakers, exchange of ideas, mentorship, and rigorous scientific presentations of attendees.

Because of the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) our society faces a situation unprecedented in the 67-year history of the SRI. As a result of travel bans that were issued between countries, many speakers and attendees are no longer able to participate in the meeting. This has led to cancellations for plenary talks, satellite speakers, oral presenters, and poster presenters. In short, these many cancellations have greatly compromised the scientific content and quality of the meeting.

After much thought and careful consideration, the SRI Leadership has decided to cancel the upcoming SRI Annual Meeting in Vancouver, Canada. Based on the situation at hand, there is no alternative. Please independently work with the hotel to cancel your booking.

 Please realize that refunds could take up to three weeks to completely process. We will notify you once we have a clear timeline.

The SRI leadership is exploring creative options for virtual presentations for the science you worked so hard to prepare.

We know there will be many questions in the coming days, and we ask for your understanding and patience as we work toward the best possible solution for our meeting attendees and the Society Members. At this point, email is still the best means of contacting the SRI Staff at info@sri-online.org.

Reading this, the hearts of many will fall to the ground. Nevertheless, our Society remains resilient and we look forward to meeting in the future and working together to advance the science of reproduction! Thank you again for your commitment and support of the SRI.
