Reproductive biology is fundamental not only for survival of the species, but also for several scientific domains including biotechnology, stem cell biology, teratology, toxicology, evolutionary biology and animal science. Quebec is known internationally for a large, innovative and accomplished community of researchers in mammalian reproduction.
The Réseau Québécois en Reproduction (RQR) is a network that unites more than 90 of theses researchers and 250 students in the field of reproductive biology in the province of Québec. This partnership was made possible by grant from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT).
The RQR scientific focus is on the development and exploitation of a range of genomic, molecular, cellular and clinical tools to address problems in reproduction. The wide range of expertise in reproductive biology allows this strategic group to provide meaningful insight into the reproductive processes that are disrupted in infertility and in human reproductive pathology. Further, our studies in basic and applied reproductive research reinforce the competitiveness of the Quebec animal and agricultural industry.
A major goal of the RQR is to develop and intensify technology transfer to contribute to the development of useful findings with high potential for scientific and economic return for the IVF, pharmaceutical, biotechnological and agricultural industries. To reach this objective, the RQR exploits the experience of internationally renowned Quebec scientists and the enthusiasm of young, emerging colleagues.
