SRI's Statement in Response to Recent Executive Orders

SRI's Statement in Response to Recent Executive Orders

University-based research, supported by the federal government, has long been a cornerstone of American ingenuity, driving progress and improving lives both in the U.S. and globally. We recognize that the uncertainty surrounding potential program defunding and federal policy changes—especially proposed cuts to indirects for NIH-funded scientific research—has caused significant concern and distress for many of our members. Please know that we share these concerns and stand with you during this challenging time.

SRI remains steadfast in our commitment to advocating for you, our members, and using our collective expertise and professional relationships to ensure that congressional leaders fully understand the profound impact and critical importance of our work in advancing women’s health and reproductive biology research.

Alongside our partners—including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Women’s First Research Coalition, the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research, and the Friends of NICHD—we are actively engaging with Congress and other key stakeholders to highlight the invaluable contributions of our research community to public health and well-being, both in the U.S. and around the world.

Many of these organizations are gathering personal stories to illustrate the real-world consequences of funding challenges. If you or your work have been affected, we encourage you to share your experience with us at info@sri-online.org. Your voice is powerful, and together, we can make a difference.

Please know that SRI will remain true to its values of advancing reproductive health for all through outstanding science, training future generations, embracing diversity, advocacy, and promoting excellence in reproductive science globally.
